EEG data available for free!

New YouTube up: How to access free EEG data, if you are new to neuroimaging and have no access to raw data. Here are a few available through UCSD, Harvard, dataset search engine, etc.

THINGS-EEG dataset neuroimaging recordings

If you are an aspiring computational neuroscientist, chances are you need data to help design and run your research projects and experiments. A few weeks ago, Dr. Olbrich also adhered to the fact that raw data, including EEG data, is becoming more and more available for anyone to use.

I personally myself just recently started thinking of exploring ideas around making my own data available. Not sure how that would work but just last night I thought of exploring the idea.

Here is one example of one of those projects who have made their codes along with their EEG data (50 subjects) available. This is just one example. I highly recommend you do your own search to help find solid good raw data.

Excerpt from the article: “The THINGS-EEG dataset provides neuroimaging recordings to a systematic collection of objects and concepts and can therefore support a wide array of research to understand visual object processing in the human brain.”

Exploring with big thinkers: Neural networks with EEG data

Thinking big with these big thinkers helps stretch our minds. There is so much to be discovered in this new era of machine learning, deep learning, AI, Robotics, etc. All of these amazing technological advances are helping scientists from all kinds of disciplines explore areas of natural forces that we could never have dreamed of exploring. In our case, that area is the brain, the neural activities of all kind.

So, if you are scientist, a student, or an aspiring one, get inspired by these big thinkers, put on your most favorite music (mine is EDM), and start learning, experimenting, and exploring!!

New video: Thinking forward. Exploring more ideas around convolutional neural networks with EEG.

The amazing story behind the birth of the Information Search Process Model, Dr. Kuhlthau!

Dr. Carol Kuhlthau speaks about what went behind the scenes of creation of one of the most cited theoretical frameworks in the field of Information Science. In fact, the key theoretical frameworks in my dissertation was Dr. Kuhlthau’s ISP Model 🙂

“She is internationally known for her groundbreaking research on the Information Search Process and for the ISP model of affective, cognitive and physical aspects in six stages of information seeking and use.”
